National Sales Leader Carol Brown has shared some fantastic home show ideas:
We all know that catalog and home parties are an easy way to get sales and make money, but today's hectic pace makes it difficult for some customers to host or even attend a show! Our expanded line of Longaberger Baskets, Pottery, Wrought Iron and Home Accents offer us the opportunity to be creative with our customers to accommodate their personal needs and their time-starved schedules. Here are some ideas you can use to achieve sales every single month:
Office Party
Take our food products to the office and serve them in our baskets, pottery & wrought iron. If possible, take additional food items to sell cash and carry.
“It's In The Bag” Party
Know a group of ladies who love to carry the latest fashion handbags? Gather them together for a Longaberger Sisters™ Party. You only need 1 of each handbag and the accessories to get sales!
Sports/Tailgate Party
Show guests how to use our NFL, Collegiate and Team Spirit Baskets while supporting their favorite teams!
Military Party
Promote our American Valor™ Baskets at military events including base bazaars, welcome home celebrations and military month activities.
Design-a-Basket Party
Promote these at your show or at Bridal Events. Use it to promote a "design-your-own special gift.”
Coffee Shop Party
People love to gather at their favorite coffee shop. Take your favorite large basket with: 1 new piece of Wrought Iron & Pottery, the monthly feature basket, 1 piece of Woven Traditions® Flatware, and the Maddy Handbag & Cell Phone Case.
“Clean Up the Clutter” Party
Show customers how to clean up the clutter and get organized using our Wrought Iron and Baskets in their office/computer room.
Cooking Party
Pre-make your favorite appetizers (Longaberger Foods), salad, pasta, bread & dessert using our products! Try holding a cooking party at your home first and book shows from your party. Give your guests the recipes. You may want to charge your hostesses a fee for the food when she schedules this type of party.
Home Decor Party
Show your hostesses how to redecorate just 1 room in their home using our products. For example: decorate your table with our Ebony & Ivory Pottery, Flatware and Washed Linen Placemats & Napkins. Lay the Embossed Weave Mirror on the middle of the table with the Silhouette Candlesticks with Washed Linen Candles, Washed Linen Vase & some forsythia blooms. Add some black baskets and Ivory Pottery for serving pieces (ex: Black Flare Basket with Ivory Flare Bowl with fruit in it.) If there is a side table for serving, place the Bronze Leaf Wine Holder on it with wine or your favorite grape juice in it. Use a piece of artwork or the Hammered Metal Squares & Arches on the wall over your buffet table. The ideas are endless!!! Use Pottery you already own to add additional pieces to the décor.
No matter what type of show you choose to do, always take WishLists, Flyers, Order Forms and a Sponsoring Packet with you. GOOD LUCK!!!

What Would You Do?
I am desperate for sales this month! Do you remember that a couple of weeks ago I said that I would be delivering WLs to customers? I dropped off a few catalogs as I was out running errands. It worked! One placed a Factory Store Order and I received a text from a previous hostess who wants to have a book party. Another found several items that she wants and I will follow up with her via telephone in a few days. Guess what I will do tomorrow? When I leave my house tomorrow, I will be armed with catalogs to drop off or hand out. Look out Amarillo! Here I come!
What will you do for your business this month? Please leave a comment to let us know.

Don’t Throw a “Bread & Water” Party
(Julie Anne Jones)
(Julie Anne Jones)
When you send out an invitation to a home party that doesn't have any sort of theme, it's basically like inviting someone to a "Bread and Water" party. And, worse than that, indirectly saying "and make sure you remember to bring your checkbook." You might as well put a headline across the top of that invitation that says, "Hey, come on over to my house next Wednesday and spend some money!" I don't know about you, but that's not the best way to get me excited about attending a party! If you make it about the theme instead, everyone will enthusiastically show up, and the product portion of the evening will flow seamlessly and be much more comfortable for everyone.
So, no matter what else you have your host do, make sure she chooses a theme for her party. I'll be asking my guests on the actual invitation they receive in the mail to bring their favorite chocolate to share (candy, cookies, brownies, cake or whatever). I've found this increases excitement even more, because the only thing women are more passionate about than chocolate is sharing with other women! Crack a bottle of wine, put on a pot of coffee, provide some non-alcoholic beverages, and bake my mom's famous Lemon Brownies to share, and I'm set!
So bearing all this in mind, what do you have to say about themes and theme parties? And if you're using them, have they increased attendance at your parties? Share with us!
And the winner is...
Leslie Hassell!
Congratulations, Leslie!
